Colombia The Country Of 1000 Rhythms

As most of you know Colombia in recent decades has suffered from great violence and internal conflicts that have affected the country. But we want to highlight and remember the magic that the Colombian lands have and the wonderful culture that highlights the Colombians. In the Colombian Atlantic coast we find different characters that are important for us and we want Colombia to be recognized not for the violence that its inhabitants and lands have suffered but for the greatness of its culture, traditions and people. Colombian culture is a mixture of traditions, customs, art, music, literature and gastronomy of indigenous peoples, Europeans and Africans. Colombia is known as “the country of 1000 rhythms” thanks to the diversity of sounds that identify distinct cultures from five regions. Here you will find joy, music, parties and celebrations.

Colombia has different festivities and carnivals around the country, such as the carnival of blacks and whites in pasto characteristic for its floats and parties full of color and folklore, the fair of cali characteristic for the music and dance of their parties, the flower fair in medellin that honors all our farmers flower producers, the carnival of riosucio in caldas that gives a large dose of folklore music and dances; Another festivity worth mentioning is the carnival of barranquilla that takes place in the Colombian Atlantic coast. Every year between February and the beginning of March the city of Barranquilla dresses in colors to celebrate the legendary carnival of Barranquilla, a festivity that was declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003. The carnival of Barranquilla is not only concentrated in its city of origin but also reaches all the municipalities of the Colombian Atlantic coast reaching our beautiful city of Santa Marta.
